You have to say "for the price" because there are substantially better shelves out there - starting at a hundred dollars more. Once you've decided on this particular price point, you have to expect thin veneer over manufactured wood and cam-lock assembly. I was hoping for reasonable quality with this shelf and I was happily surprised to get a little more than that. The wooden frame appears to be solid wood, the shelves and side panels are not, but they're very stiff and solid-feeling. I was a bit disappointed that the shelf is not adjustable, but realized during assembly that the shelf is a major stability member: Cam-locks are only strong in one direction and this shelf was very rickety with only the cam-locks holding it together. Once the center shelf was screwed to the back the wobbly collection of parts became a solid piece of furniture (that's why the back is MDF and not cardboard -- it has to be stiff in the two directions that the cam-locks are not.) This attachment to the back should also keep the shelf from sagging over time - a good thing for a thin shelf.I do have a few complaints. The center shelf is missing pre-drilled screw holes for the 6 screws used to secure it to the back. The screws are intended to self-tap and there *are* holes in the back panels, but with MDF, it's best to hint where the screws should go or they may end up going where they want. I used a small drill bit to provide that hint.Another complaint is more serious and almost had me sending the whole thing back. The two plastic spines used to join the three back panels were taped to the top with some kind of 3-inch-wide cellophane-ish packing tape with about 8 inches of the tape applied directly to the top's surface. I don't know when it was packed but it must have been a while because the tape's adhesive had dried out, decomposed, whatever, and had joined with the top's finish and soaked into the pores of the veneer top, leaving a very noticeable, tacky (sticky) stain. The usual goo removal ointments didn't work - it wasn't really goo anymore. After a good 20 minutes of cleaning with various chemicals, I was finally able to remove the stain without ruining the finish. Manufacturers: *please* understand that there are better methods of securing loose parts than using packing tape directly on finished wood.Another minor point: There are 4 plastic caps intended to hide 4 holes on the inside surfaces where the cam-locks are visible (where the top is joined to the sides). There must have been a change at some point because the cam-locks included in my package were thinner than the hole drilled for them - not a problem with the assembly, but now the plastic caps can't be attached the way they're supposed to. The holes are not currently visible (the first books I put in covered them) but if it's a problem in the future, I can always use Plasti-Tak or similar to stick the caps in place.Overall, I'm very pleased with this shelf - it looks more expensive than it is and holds what I need it to hold. I have no illusions that it will become a treasured family heirloom or even outlast me. But it's an attractive and sturdy shelf - for the price. The reviews were quite mixed on this product and I was a bit hesitant to order it. I couldn't really find anything else that seemed to suit my needs, and for the price, I went ahead and bought...and I'm SO glad I did! I love this piece of furniture! My main concern was the assembly. Some of the reviews indicated it took forever to put together. I was thinking of my poor husband having to do this;) ~ then I read some reviews that said it was fine to put together. My husband did it in about 30 minutes. No issues! All the parts and pieces were there and the shelf looks great! I had a minor issue with one of the wicker baskets. It was totally dented in on both sides of the basket (where the handles are...it figures! Couldn't even turn it around so no one could see it). The box was no damaged at all in shipping, so it was a quality issue (wherever it was manufactured). Contacted OJ Commerce and the responded immediately about the problem. They required pictures to see the damage. After I sent pictures...it was downhill as far as communication. I had to contact them at least six times to even find out what was going on. I didn't know if they received the pictures, if they needed additional info, etc. Finally, a response back saying they had everything they needed and it would be 7-10 before I got my replacement basket. I got it yesterday and we are good:)There were some concerns about the unit being solid wood. Amazon does change descriptions based on feedback. When I purchased the unit, it did not state anything about SOLID wood. For that matter, they didn't say it was particle board either. The unit we received has a solid wood frame. The shelves seem to be particle board. It would benefit Amazon to actually indicate what it is made from.I totally love this piece and it works great in out Three Season Room. We are using it for towels, bug spray and suntan lotion (pool and deck usage). I'm sure I'll find another use for it once that season has passed!I love the cabinet , however it was shipped in 3 separate boxes, and I had a real issue receiving all the parts. The final box part came in finally 2 weeks after the first delivery and only after an angry phone call to the shipper. Parcel was shipped across country and back , and only after I got upset did it get tracked and found and then finally shipped to me. The cabinet is great and does exactly what I wanted.I found this shelf here for the best price. I could not have imagined paying anything more it. If I hadn’t of already put it all together I would probably send it back. It looks very nice, but I don’t find it very sturdy. I will be getting my step dad to reinforce it before filling BOTH shelves with books.Cabinet came with clear instructions and all the pieces are labelled so it was easy to put together. Very solid and beautiful piece of furniture. The only recommendation I have is measure the distance between the pre-drilled holes to the top on the back panels. One of the three panels had the labels at the wrong end.Good looking shelf with the right dimensions to fit the space i needed. It fit all of my large school binders. Unfortunately it can't hold even a reasonable amount of weight without breaking. It was a huge hassle taking it all apart again and wrapping it up and taking it back to the post office, (Amazon wont pick it up for you).TROP CHERE POUR LE PRIX PAYE
